No matter what you learned in school, Trotsky was way cool as well as a "transhumanist" ahead of his time. If the Stalinist filth hadn't murdered him, he would have no doubt ended up co-starring in a pirate film with Errol Flynn, or perhaps playing drums with John Coltrane. I can heartily recommend Isaac Deutscher's biography.
